SAMPLE IDEAS

RETAILING
Project Idea 1:
The manner in which shelf space is allocated in a super market, across product categories/brands, with differential profit margins embedded in them can form a very interesting basis for analysis. A full-fledged project can be conceptualized on this platform covering concepts in market strategy, research and optimization.

Project Idea 2:
A departmental store has a corporate brand such as Louis Philippe shirts. It can also have its own brand of shirts (store brand). While it needs the corporate brand for customer pull, store brand fetches it much higher margins. This results in an interesting dynamic trade-off which can form the basis of a comprehensive project idea.

MARKET STRATEGY
Project Idea1:
In the telecom sector, an aggressive player such as Vodafone successfully generates customer acquisition, month after month. However, it is not as successful in retaining acquired customers. This can result in a continuous balancing between acquisition and retention, which is the basis for the project.

STRATEGIC BRAND MANAGEMENT
Brand Management as a science requires, building up brand equity. A project idea can start with measuring brand value and monitoring thereafter.

FINANCE
Project Idea 1:
To examine and formulate the correlation function between National Stock Exchange Index vis-à-vis developed capital markets such as Dow Jones (New York), FTSE (London), Hang Seng (Beijing) and others.
Project Idea 2:
To assess the efficiency of volatility as a measure of risk in the stock market.

HR
Project Idea
To develop an analysis of Human Resource valuation, basing upon discounted value of the future earning stream of the enterprise. This is analogous to the computation of Net Present Value. This finds use in on-going human capital strategy and talent management.
